AI Time Capture Integrations

Connect an AI timekeeping tool to LeanLaw so the time it captures arrives as time entries you can review, bill and collect.

AI time capture tools work in the background while attorneys work. They track email, calendar, documents and calls, and draft time entries matched to the right client and matter. When you connect one to LeanLaw, approved entries come into LeanLaw as regular time entries. From there they move through the rest of your billing workflow: invoices, trust, payments, QuickBooks Online and reports.

How it works

  1. Clients and matters sync to the capture tool. The tool reads your active clients and matters from LeanLaw, so it can assign captured work to them.
  2. The tool drafts entries. It turns captured activity into draft time entries with narratives.
  3. Timekeepers review and approve in the tool. Nothing reaches LeanLaw until someone releases it.
  4. Approved entries land in LeanLaw. They appear on the Time Entries page like any other entry, ready for editing and billing.
  5. Bill as usual. Captured time follows your normal rates, draft process, invoices and QuickBooks sync.

How to connect

Billables.ai

PointOne

Contact your PointOne representative to enable the LeanLaw connection. You will need a LeanLaw API key from Settings → API. PointOne Setup Guide

Mira by Matteroom

Captures work from Outlook, Teams, Word and document systems, with review and release inside Microsoft Teams.

Matteroom configures the billing-system connection. Contact support@matteroom.com and request the LeanLaw integration. You will need a LeanLaw API key from Settings → API.

Before you connect

  • Set your rates first. Captured entries use the timekeeper's rate on each matter, so confirm rates before the first sync.
  • LEDES clients. If a client requires activity and task codes, check that entries from your capture tool include them, or add the codes in LeanLaw before billing. [VERIFY which tools send UTBMS codes]

Don't see your tool?

We add integrations based on what our customers ask for. If your firm uses or is evaluating a time capture tool that isn't listed, email support@myleanlaw.com with the tool's name. We'll work with the vendor directly.

Vendors can build on LeanLaw's public API. Documentation is at platform.leanlaw.io, and LeanLaw API: Getting Started with Developer Access covers access. We ask integration partners to identify themselves with the partner ID header on API requests.

Frequently asked questions

Do I still need LeanLaw's timers? No, but you can keep using them. Entries from the desktop tracker, mobile app, calendar and an AI capture tool all end up in the same place.

Can captured time skip review? That depends on the tool's settings. All three tools above let attorneys review entries before releasing them to LeanLaw.

Where is my activity data stored? The capture tool stores the activity it collects, under its own security and privacy terms. LeanLaw receives only the finished time entries. Review each vendor's security documentation before connecting.
