Client Contact and Custom Flag Reports in LeanLaw
How to use LeanLaw's Client Contact report for exporting client information, and the Custom Flag report for comparing billing on flagged vs. unflagged time entries.
Two additional reports in LeanLaw's Reports suite serve specialized needs: the Client Contact report for exporting client data, and the Custom Checkbox (Custom Flag) report for tracking billing differences between flagged and standard time entries.
Client Contact Report
The Client Contact report exports a list of all clients in LeanLaw with their contact information — name, email address, phone, billing address, and any other contact details stored in their client record.
Primary uses:
- Mailing lists: Export client contact data for newsletters, firm announcements, or year-end communications.
- Data audit: Review which clients have complete contact information — specifically email addresses needed for invoice delivery.
- CRM integration: Export client data for use in an external CRM or marketing system.

📋 Export format: The Client Contact report can be exported as a CSV file. It does not include billing history — for combined contact and billing data, use the Client/Matter revenue or WIP reports. |
Custom Flag / Custom Checkbox Report
The Custom Checkbox Report compares billing data for time entries that have been flagged (marked with a custom checkbox) against entries that have not been flagged. This is useful for firms that use a custom flag on entries to track a specific category of work.
Common flag use cases include:
- Pro bono tracking: Flag pro bono entries to compare against billable entries.
- Contingency hours: Flag hours on contingency matters to compare against standard billing.
- Partner review: Flag entries that require partner review before invoicing.

⚠️ Verify flag feature: The custom checkbox/flag feature on time entries may require configuration before use. Verify how to enable and set flags on time entries in the current product — this may be a setting in Firm Setup or a field on the time entry form that is hidden by default. |
