Receivables Reports in LeanLaw
How to use LeanLaw's receivables reports to monitor outstanding balances — including the aged receivables view, per-client drill-down, and the personal My Receivables report.
Receivables reports show you what you're owed — outstanding invoice balances organized by how long they've been overdue. This is your primary tool for managing collections and following up on unpaid invoices.
Accessing Receivables Reports
Receivables are accessible from two places in LeanLaw:
- Billing → Receivables tab: The Aged Receivables view — a real-time snapshot of all outstanding balances, organized by aging bucket.
- Reports → Receivables: The receivables report within the standard Reports section, with filtering and export options.
The Aged Receivables View
The Aged Receivables screen organizes outstanding balances into aging buckets:
|
Aging Bucket |
What It Shows |
|
1–30 days |
Invoices outstanding for 30 days or less since the invoice date. |
|
31–60 days |
Invoices outstanding 31–60 days. |
|
61–90 days |
Invoices outstanding 61–90 days. |
|
90+ days |
Invoices outstanding more than 90 days — your most at-risk receivables. |
Each row shows a client's total outstanding balance in each aging bucket. Click a client name to drill into their individual receivable detail — showing each unpaid invoice, its amount, and how long it has been outstanding.
|
💡 Monthly AR review workflow: Sort by the 90+ days column to prioritize your follow-up. Clients with balances in the 90+ bucket have had an invoice outstanding for three months — these need a direct conversation or payment plan, not just an email reminder. |
Per-Client Drill-Down
Clicking into a client from the Aged Receivables view opens their individual receivables screen. From here you can:
- View all outstanding invoices with their amounts and ages
- See the client's current trust balance
- Make a trust deposit directly from this view
- Record a payment against any outstanding invoice
My Receivables
The My Receivables report shows outstanding balances scoped to matters where you are the Responsible Attorney. This gives individual partners a personal view of their client AR without seeing firm-wide data.
Navigate to: Reports → My Reports → My Receivables (or Reports → Receivables → My Receivables)
Exporting Receivables Data
From the Aged Receivables view, click Export in the top-right corner to download the current view as a CSV file. Use the Print button to create a PDF version.

📋 Note: The exported receivables data reflects balances as of today's date — not a historical period. Receivables cannot be filtered by a past date in the same way that invoiced revenue can be. |
