Automating LeanLaw Workflows with Zapier
How to use LeanLaw's Zapier integration to automate client and matter creation from CRMs and practice management systems — including supported apps, setup steps, and beta access.
LeanLaw's Zapier integration lets you automate the flow of client and matter data between LeanLaw and other tools your firm uses — eliminating double-entry when a new client is added in your CRM or a new case is opened in your practice management system.
What Zapier Automation Enables
The core use case for LeanLaw's Zapier integration is syncing client and matter records from external systems into LeanLaw automatically. When a trigger event happens in a connected app (e.g., a new contact is added in a CRM), Zapier creates the corresponding client or matter in LeanLaw.
Currently supported LeanLaw Zapier actions:
- Create Client: Creates a new client record in LeanLaw from data passed from the trigger app.
- Create Matter: Creates a new matter linked to an existing LeanLaw client.
|
📋 Note: LeanLaw's Zapier integration currently focuses on client and matter creation. Time entry creation, invoice automation, and other actions may be added in future versions. |

Setting Up a Zap: General Workflow
- In Zapier, create a new Zap.
- Choose your trigger app and event (e.g., 'New Contact in Lawmatics' or 'New Case in MyCase').
- Choose LeanLaw as the action app.
- Select the LeanLaw action: Create Client or Create Matter.
- Map the fields from your trigger app to the corresponding LeanLaw fields (e.g., Contact Name → Client Name, Case Number → Matter Reference).
- Test the Zap to confirm it works as expected.
- Turn on the Zap.

💡 Test before going live: Always test your Zap with a sample record before activating it for production. Verify that the created client and matter in LeanLaw have the correct data and are properly configured before relying on the automation. |
